Colby Damon

R. Colby Damon was born and raised in Richmond, VA, and received his training at the Richmond Ballet, the Boston Ballet, and the Virginia School of the Arts, under the late Petrus Bosman. He then joined the Sacramento Ballet, where for five years he performed many soloist and principle roles in numerous classical and contemporary works, including pieces by Trey McIntyre, Dwight Rhoden, Glen Tetley, George Balanchine, and Ron Cunningham among others. In 2007, Colby relocated to Brooklyn to pursue a career as a freelance artist, and has since worked with Lydia Johnson Dance, Thang Dao Dance Company, The Mark Morris Dance Group, Ballet X, and the Metropolitan Opera, in addition to projects with John Selya and Luca Veggetti. Colby is also pursuing his BA in Dance through the New York LEAP program, and is certified by Grand Master Bing Fan Yeyoung to teach Chen Style Tai ji quan.
