Nathalie Joachim biography

Nathalie Joachim is a flutist, composer, and sound designer making her mark in the contemporary world of multimedia collaboration. Her original work was most recently featured @The Cell Theatre. Prior to that, in 2009 she appeared in both performance and production capacities at notable New York City venues including BRICstudio Brooklyn, The Tank, the Rubin Museum of Art, and 3-Legged Dog Art and Technology Center. 2008 held many triumphs for Ditch Productions, of which Ms. Joachim is Founder and Director of Sound and Image, including being named semi-finalists in the Concert Artist Guild International competition. In addition to her work with Ditch, Ms. Joachim is a founding member of the electro-acoustic flute duo Flutronix

Ms. Joachim has appeared as a soloist in concert with the Stonewall Chorale in honor of and in collaboration with John Corigliano, in the Gezzmatazz Festival of Genova, Italy, The Puffin Room (NYC), on NPR’s "Young, Gifted, and Black", and the Little Orchestra Society of Lincoln Center. Her competition awards include top prizes from the New York Flute Club, the National Flute Association, and the American Symphony Orchestra League. Additionally, she has appeared as co-principal flute with the American Russian Young Artist Orchestra in the United States, Russia, and Armenia, and has had the pleasure of participating in performances at many prestigious concert venues, including Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, and Alice Tully Hall in solo, chamber music, and orchestral settings. She prides her self on our educational outreach performance work with Sacred Slam, a non-profit organization that works with interfaith youth.

Ms. Joachim holds a bachelor’s degree in Flute Music Performance from The Juilliard School where she studied under the direction of Carol Wincenc. She has completed graduate course work at NYU in Experimental Music, and is the proud recipient of a master's degree in Media and Sound studies from The New School, where her focus was audio production and sound design.
